Desenvolve projetos nas linhas de pesquisa de diagnóstico, tratamento e vacinas e epidemiologia molecular de doenças infecciosas, em especial leishmanioses e de caráter genético. Umas das criadoras do Centro de Tecnologia em Vacinas da UFMG. Coordena projetos de cunho tecnológico, que culminaram com o desenvolvimento de produto e transferência de tecnologia da vacina Leish-Tec, contra a leishmaniose visceral canina e de testes de diagnóstico immunocromatográficos.
Develops research projects in the areas of diagnosis, treatment, and vaccines, as well as molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases, particularly leishmaniasis. She is one of the founders of the UFMG Vaccine Technology Center. She coordinates technological projects, culminating in the product development and technology transfer of the Leish-Tec vaccine against canine visceral leishmaniasis and immunochromatographic diagnostic tests.
